Home Services Lead Generation

Home Services Lead Generation That Books Jobs — Not Just "Leads"

Too much contractor "lead generation" is really the same homeowner, resold to three to five competitors at once. We build the system that generates the lead for you — and measure what matters: the booked job.

Plug in a few numbers and see your #1 revenue gap — where leads leak out and what a booked job really costs you today. About 90 seconds, no form, no email. Then, on a 20-Minute Gap Review, we'll show you what to fix first.

We measure every client to the booked job — because before the agency, the founder ran a dealership's entire lead-to-sale engine and closed 761 of them himself. Not a contractor case study: the track record of the discipline we build into every pipeline.

What is home services lead generation?

Home services lead generation is the process of creating qualified homeowner inquiries for contractors — through local search and the map pack, paid ads, and conversion-built websites — instead of buying shared leads resold to competitors. At Andrew Ryan Marketing, we don't stop measuring when the lead comes in: we follow it to the booked job, and every lead we generate is exclusively yours.

The Rented Revenue Gap

Leads you own vs. leads you rent

Two very different things get sold as "lead generation": buying access to someone else's leads, and building a system that generates your own. One you rent. One you own — and it decides whether your calendar is full in a slow month:

You own the asset, not just access

Buying leads just rents you access — stop paying and it stops. We build assets you keep: rankings, map presence, site, reviews, first-party data. We'll run paid channels when they earn it — but the lead comes to you, not a marketplace reselling it five times.

Every lead is exclusive

Marketplaces sell the same homeowner to three to five contractors, so your first conversation is a price war. Leads you generate are yours alone — you're the only call they make.

We measure the booked job

Traffic and "leads" are vanity if they don't book. We track cost per booked job and drive it down as the system compounds — the opposite of a marketplace, where cost per lead climbs as more contractors bid.

Systems, not tactics

A random ad here and a boosted post there is not a pipeline. We build the whole path — visibility, conversion, follow-up — so leads arrive and get handled.

The honest part first

"But marketing isn't plumbing. What does a marketer know about winning my trade?"

You're right — we're not supposed to know plumbing better than a plumber. That's what we have you for. You know the trade, the customer, the callbacks, the margins. We learn that from you, and the better we understand how you make money, the better the system gets.

Then we bring the part we are supposed to know better: turning that expertise into visibility, demand, and booked jobs you can measure. But here's what should matter more:

Every company competing with Andrew Ryan Marketing is in the business of marketing. They know SEO. They know paid media. They know conversion. They understand the same channels and levers we do. Your competitors are contractors. Ours are marketers.

Our competitors are experts too — and the proof still doesn't lie. So when you think marketing isn't the same as your business, you're right. And that's exactly why it's the one part worth handing to people who win at it.

And unlike an opinion, it's measurable — so everything below is built to be checked, not just claimed.

The 6-Gap Revenue Map

Six things decide whether a search turns into a booked job. We measure all six, score them, and hand you the one that costs you most. Here is the instrument, running.

Exclusive vs. shared

Are shared leads worth it?

Short answer: they fill a slow week, but they cap your margin and close rate on purpose. Here's the difference, line by line — the comparison an honest rep won't put in writing.

What you're actually buyingExclusive leads you generateShared marketplace leads
(Angi, Thumbtack, HomeAdvisor-style)
Who else gets this lead No one — it's yours alone Sold to three to five contractors at once
First conversationYou're the only call — you set the termsA price war before you say hello
Typical close rateFar higher — no one underbidding you on the same leadDiluted by every competitor bidding the same job
Cost trend over timeCost per booked job drops as your owned system compoundsCost per lead climbs as more contractors bid the market
What you own at the endAn asset — rankings, map presence, site, phone, lead flowNothing — the leads stop the day you stop paying
Who controls the pipelineYou doThe marketplace does — it controls the pricing, distribution, and rules

Shared leads aren't a scam — they're a rental. Fine to plug a gap, wrong as a foundation. The goal is to own the pipeline, so a slow month is your choice, not the marketplace's.

The number cost per lead leaves out

How to figure out what a booked job really costs you

Cost per lead counts the phone ringing, not the job on the calendar. Cost per booked job is what you paid to put actual work on the calendar. Here's the method — run it on any channel you pay for.

The formula

Total spent on a channel ÷ jobs that channel actually booked = cost per booked job

Say a channel brings 20 leads a month at $50 each$1,000 spent. If 1 in 5 books, that's 4 jobs — so each booked job cost $250, not $50. Weigh that against your ticket: on a $3,000–4,000 install, $250 is a bargain; on a $200 service call, it's underwater. The lead price told you almost nothing. The booked-job cost tells you what the lead was actually worth.

Round figures, to show the method. In some of our own home-service ad accounts, exclusive campaigns have run $250–400 per booked job depending on vertical and close rate — your number depends on your market, your ticket, and how fast you answer the phone. The map above runs this on your inputs.

How the system works

Four moving parts. One booked calendar.

Random tactics don't produce a pipeline. We build the whole path — so a homeowner searching today becomes a job on your schedule, and we can show you exactly where it came from.

Click Architecture™ engineers your search result and listings so the visitor who was going to scroll past picks up the phone instead — more booked-intent calls from the same rankings you already hold.

GET THE JOB

Catch every lead

Speed-to-lead follow-up and reputation that closes. Most jobs are lost in the gap between the call and the callback — we close that gap so leads don't leak out.

PROVE IT

Measure to the booked job

Every dollar tracked past the lead to the job it produced — so you know which channels deserve more budget and which don't. Then we connect that demand to the lead-to-booked-job system that turns opportunity into revenue. Activity is not progress.

Who runs this

You get the person
who closed the leads
— not an account manager.

Before the agency, Andrew-Ryan built and ran a dealership's entire lead-to-sale engine — every lead, every follow-up, every close. Not just a spreadsheet of it. The actual lead, phone and sales work. 11,564 leads worked, 2,135 appointments that showed, 761 closed by hand — 35.6% of the appointments that showed — into more than $34M in revenue, sales growing 26% year over year. Eventually the engine ran itself — in Andrew's words, "it ran without me."

He's also managed marketing campaigns for national brands you'd recognize — but the number that matters here is simpler: he knows what a lead is worth because he spent years turning them into signed jobs in one of the most competitive industries.

That's why we measure everything to the booked job, not the lead. It's the number that actually paid the bills — and it's why, when demand isn't your real constraint, we'll tell you "not yet" instead of selling you more marketing.

Straight about price

Built for the trades

Lead systems by industry

Every trade has its own buyer, its own search behavior, and its own math on what a job is worth. Here's where we go deep:

Plumbing, HVAC, roofing, electrical and more, too — same system, different math by trade. We're founder-led out of Johnson City, working with home-service businesses across service areas across the Southeast and nationwide.

Questions we get

Straight answers

Those platforms sell the same lead to three to five contractors at once, so every inquiry starts as a price war. We build lead flow that's exclusively yours — your rankings, map presence, site, phone — so you're the only call the homeowner makes, and your cost per booked job drops as the system compounds. One is a rental you never stop paying for; the other is an asset you own.

It depends on your trade, ticket, and follow-up speed — which is what the map above calculates on your numbers. For reference, exclusive campaigns in our own two ad accounts have run $250–400 per booked job depending on vertical and close rate. On a $3,000–4,000 install that's a strong return — and you'll know your real number instead of guessing from the lead price.

Paid channels can produce booked calls within the first weeks, once campaigns are live and follow-up is tight. Owned search — the part that lowers your cost per job over time — takes a few months to compound. So we usually run both: paid to prime the pipeline now, owned search to make it cheaper and more durable later. We'll tell you where your first jobs are most likely to come from.

We build systems, not rent tactics, so engagements run on a term — but you're never trapped. Every agreement carries a 90-day exit right, reviewed against the baseline we set with you up front, so the terms have teeth both ways. No setup fees, and any ad budget is a pass-through paid to the platforms directly, never marked up.

Almost certainly. We go deep on window & door, flooring, fencing, and remodeling, and build the same system for plumbing, HVAC, roofing, electrical, and most home-service trades. The framework is the same — get found, get chosen, catch every lead, measure to the booked job; the buyer behavior and job math change by trade, and that's what we tune.

Then we'll say "not yet" on more marketing. If capacity, not demand, is capping your growth, pouring leads on top just wastes them and burns your reputation on jobs you can't reach. We look at both sides of the booked job — winning the work and delivering it — and fix the constraint that's actually holding you back first. That's the point of measuring instead of just selling.
